In their greetings to the football community in Bangkok, the stars often remember the time when they weren’t yet. To their roots, their dreams. Manual Neuer too. In his foreword on the GAS Far East Tournament Magazine it said:

 “Let’s talk about roots.”

“Football fans sometimes ask us how we manage to keep staying down to earth when making a lot of money and shining as stars in the media nearly every day. In my mind not forgetting my roots is the best way not to be confused by money or by what people call stardom.

And that’s what the German All Stars are doing at their Easter Tournament every year: Coming back to the roots – the roots of football. “

With Brazil World Champion 1970, honored the All Stars 2010 with his visit. The captain and final scorer died in October 2016.

It almost happened that FRANZ BECKENBAUER – who worked with Carlos Alberto and Pelé for Cosmos New York at the end of the 1970s,- could have worn the jersey of the German All Stars.

They played the prelude to the Thai national team’s game against Bayern Munich in 2000. But when Franz came into the All Stars cabin and looked around, he said with heavy bavarian accent: “Yeah, so many people, you don’t need me.” He seemed relieved.

Frequent guests at the Easter tournament were ex-stars from the English Premier League, which is incredibly popular in Asia. Liverpool’s former striker IAN RUSH for example, came to Bangkok almost every year.
