MoM - 16-11-14In the last two weeks, GAS Casuals started playing the Bangkok Casuals League Lufthansa Cup, having all three group matches scheduled on three consecutive weekends. After the first two matches, GAS collected the maximum of 6 points after wins against Bangkok Japan United (3:0) and Sportsman 2 (3:2). The first match against Bangkok Japan United wasn’t as clear as the result seems and it was hard work against a well-structured Japanese defense to score. Frodo (4.), Thomas (50.), and Sascha (77.) scored to collect the first three points though. Michael, usually goalie of the Vets team, has kindly helped out and did a great job of keeping the clean sheet so that he was later awarded Man of the Match.

MoM - 22-11-14A week later, the team had to play Sportsman 2. After the 7:1 win over Sportsman 1 in the league a few weeks earlier, everyone who expected another easy scoring spree was very wrong. It turned out that the Sportsman 2 was a very well structured and hard-fighting team that showed a lot of discipline and dedication. It took until the 78th minute for Thomas to score the decisive 3:2 goal after David (28.) and Sascha (36.) had scored earlier. Dave was later rightfully nominated as man of the match, but Sascha’s accomplishment to score in both of his first games for the German All Stars certainly deserves acknowledgement.

Despite the good outcome of the first two matches, the team is not leading the table of Group D as this weekend’s opponents of Krungthep FC also won both matches but scored a goal more. Hence, the encounter this Saturday (4PM at Patana) will be the finale for the first place in group D, in which only a win would secure the first spot.

Then, on Sunday, our Vets team will join the annual German Tournament hosted by the German Thai Chamber of Commerce. The tournament starts at 14:00 at the RIS German Swiss Section – Deutschsprachige Schule Bangkok (see here) .unnamed (1)
